What a wonderful birthday celebration I had! The day started perfectly when Tommy and I headed to Good Times Cafe on East Main Street in Alhambra, a cozy little restaurant that unfortunately no longer exists. I ordered my absolute favorite noodle soup dish, I can never remember the exact name of it, but I had been craving it for days. Tommy even captured a sweet selfie of me in the car beforehand, glasses and all, just beaming with excitement about finally getting those noodles.
After we satisfied my noodle cravings, we headed back home where the real birthday magic happened. Tommy had been so thoughtful, he picked up a beautiful cake from 85°C Bakery Cafe that came in one of their elegant red boxes. When we opened it, inside were these gorgeous little rectangular cake pieces with glossy chocolate topping and delicate decorative details. The way they were presented with those little paper wings made it feel extra special and ceremonial.
The gifts were perfect too. Tommy wrote me the sweetest greeting card featuring a little cartoon dog wearing a party hat, which felt especially fitting since Bo, my adorable fluffy pup, was right there being the best birthday companion, curled up on the bed with his stuffed animal. I also received some lovely accessories, a simple black headband and a few burgundy hair scrunchies, the kind of practical but pretty gifts that show someone really pays attention to what you like.
Looking back on the day, from my excitement before lunch, to the beautiful cake presentation, to Tommy’s thoughtful card, and Bo being his sweet little self, it was one of those perfectly simple but meaningful birthday celebrations. Sometimes the best days are made up of your favorite food, people who know exactly how to make you smile, and a furry friend who is always ready to be part of the party.
