What an incredible day exploring Mazatlan! This was day 4 of our Mariner of the Seas cruise, and I have to say this port might have been my favorite so far.
The morning started with some excitement, we saw military personnel around the cruise ship, which was a bit unexpected but reassuring. From our stateroom balcony, Tommy spent some time reflecting and enjoying the moment before we headed into the city, looking out over the container port with the lush green hills of Mazatlan in the distance.
Once we disembarked, the heat hit us immediately. It was so intense that everyone was seeking refuge indoors, but we were all sweating regardless! We took the free shuttle from the ship to the terminal and then explored the vibrant port area. I absolutely loved the colorful buildings and the local atmosphere. I spent some time reading through the Cruise Compass to figure out how to best enjoy the city, and we definitely made the most of it.
Our big adventure was visiting Señor Frog’s, what a fun experience! Cheri, Tommy, and I all got photos with the iconic Señor Frog mascot in his big sombrero. The restaurant had such a lively energy with its bright decor and beautiful tiled floors. We also did some shopping at the local souvenir stalls, picking up t-shirts and other mementos to remember the trip. The beach views were stunning, especially with the island visible in the distance and everyone out enjoying the surf.
Back on the ship for dinner, we were treated to some simply delicious food. The seafood dishes were incredible, especially the pasta with langostines, and the mushroom pasta was divine. For dessert, I was in heaven with the selection of petit fours and treats. Even our cabin steward got creative tonight, our towel animal was an adorable monkey! I had such a wonderful time throughout the day; it really feels like we are making the most of this incredible Mexican cruise experience.
